Here’s Zoe Saldana arriving at Tribeca Film Festival in New York to Mission Impossible III. (And doesn’t she look fabulous?)
Mission Impossible III opened the weekend with $48 million worth of sales domestically but did a lot better overseas with $73 million.
Box office sales have been in decline for a while now since the internet, playstation, xbox etc gained rapid populartiy over the last decade.
Some have suggested Mission Impossible III’s ‘failure’ related to Tom Cruise’s scientology outbursts but I think its probably more to do with the general decline of box office revenues.
Besides it isn’t really a failure anyway because Mission Impossible III had the 57th weekend opening in history - so it isn’t all that bad.
Sure some of what Tom Cruise has been doing in the last few years in his public life is kinda weird but when it comes to acting and movies he’s still the consumate professional.
War of the Worlds was a massive success making blockbuster status.
Collateral was a quality movie.
Interestingly War of the Worlds is the 45th highest grossing domestically and the 27th highest grossing worldwide meaning people like Tom Cruise more outside of the US.
So I’m predicting Mission Impossible III will still make plenty of money for its investors.
