According to a study by eMarketer 54.5% of YouTube users are between 35 and 64 while only 19.1 per cent are between 25 and 34.
This seems surprising at first but theres no reason why online video shouldn’t be as popular with generation x and the baby boomers (well… truth be told a lot of baby boomers struggle with computers.)
All of the Generation Y’s are over watching video at MySpace.com.
But where it gets real interesting is 61% of YouTube visitors (if these figures are accurate) earn more than $60,000.
Look for short corporate video production to be on the up.
This is significant and you can expect advertisers and entrepreneurs to jump on this. Apparently users will only tolerate ad’s which last 10 - 15 seconds or less as opposed to the longer 30 second TV like cuts.
What these studies don’t take into account is targeting. Highly targeted audiences will always watch ad’s they are interested in for much longer.
