Here are some results from Lisa Keister’s Getting Rich : America’s New Rich and How They Got That Way

In general, the results indicate that between 1962 and 1995, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Keister calculated that the richest 1 percent of Americans controlled 33.5 percent of the nation’s net wealth in 1962 - and that climbed to 38.5 percent by 1995. The bottom 40 percent of Americans owned just 0.3 percent of the nation’s wealth in 1962 and that dropped to 0.2 percent by 1995.

Overall though everyone is better off materially speaking (at least in western countries)

What’s interesting is the upcoming Y-Generation also known as the “sad generation” having been bought up on retalin and anti-depressants.

The sad generation are bought up to consume - which leads to poor wealth creating habits.

Plus they’re the most obese generation ever.

They are set to become the poorest and sickest generation in history. They may be the first generation in a while to die at younger ages than their parents.
