You can’t leave Dubai without taking a Desert Safari. These tours are operated by local Emiraties who pick you up from your Hotel in huge SUV’s. Once you get to the dunes, you’ll wait a little while for all the other SUV’s to arrive.

Then you’ll begin an intense yahoo ride over sand dunes with Sean Paul music pumping in the background. After your tour driver has amazingly managed to avoid rolling the SUV on several occasions you’ll visit a camel farm, ride some camels, and then stop off and relax at a desert camp for a desert bbq feast followed by a belly dancing show.

If you’re into water when its hot you’ll love the world class Wild Wadi Water Park - the best I’ve visited. It includes multitude of rides ranging from mild to extreme, a huge beach pool to relax by, and a couple of wave pools for wannabe surfers.

The local food is fantastic if you enjoy spicy bbq, salads, dips, anti-pasto and breads. There’s also all the major western fast food franchises as well as many fabulous restaurants with all the different cuisines from around the world.

The Dubai nightlife is competitive with many bars and nightclubs offering special theme nights most weeknights. There are live bands playing the latest RnB as well as Jazz bands, and house DJ’s. Most nightclubs only allow entry to couples or women. There’s a huge mix of different nationalities at nightclubs and everyone is generally well behaved. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays these clubs get packed.

One thing I have to say is that Hotel prices were overpriced and in general service at hotels was average. To me it wasn’t value for money. It was however relatively easy to negotiate prices far below rack rates.

There is of course a lot more to see and do in Dubai and the surrounds. There are some spectacular nature tours along the Oman peninsular above Dubai. If you’re a traveler looking for adventure I recommend it highly particularly if you enjoy major events and or you’re traveling from Europe to the Asia Pacific region (or vice versa). Emirates Airline is superb and its no wonder its quickly become one of the most successful carriers in the world.

Finally, after all the partying, remember…if you’re a small to medium size business with a niche product theirs probably a market for you here with good profits to be had. Be willing to invest the time and be patient.
