I hadn’t heard of Rachel McAdam’s until I saw the movie Red Eye.

After writing about Art De Vany’s book about money making movies in Hollywood I’ve been doing some research on the correlation between earnings of films and actors. I discovered that Rachel McAdam’s has got one of the highest average gross out of any female star at - $88,225,338.

What this figure means is that a movie that Rachel McAdam’s has a leading role in will on average make $88,225,338.

To put this into perspective if you’ve got an average gross per movie of $50,000,000 then you’re probably on the A-list. Even Brad Pitt who’s on the A+ list only has an average of $64,670,464.

Of course Brad Pitt has been acting a lot longer than than Rachel McAdam’s meaning he has had much more opportunity for a bomb movie (he also did a few B-Grade movies in the beginning of his career and has done some arty type films where as Rachel McAdam’s first appeared in Rob Schneider’s Hot Chick)

All of McAdam’s films have earned over $50,000,000 domestically on relatively low budgets (except Hot Girls which only grossed $35,081,594 domestically.)

So shes an under the radar money maker. Only a few other actresses of her generation compare in average gross box office such as Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst.
