What is the Paleo ‘Caveman’ Diet?
Its a diet where all you eat is meat, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Thats whole natural foods. Humans didn’t start significantly consuming dairy and grains until 5ooo years ago and most human populations didn’t start consuming dairy except in the last 100 years.
The paleo or ‘caveman’ diet is not to be confused with ‘The Warrior Diet’ which is a theory by an ex Israeli special forces commando that one should fast during the day and eat only at night.
The paleo diet is more an eat when you’re hungry type of diet. In Paleo times however the times when you could eat were more random. Hunts were not always successful.
Ideally foods should be organic or wild game. Organic fruits and vegetables have been shown to have higher vitamins, minerals, phyto nutrients and other antioxidants then regular fruits and vegetables.
Wild game is usually leaner and has a completely different fat profile than commercially farmed meat. Wild game, (and organically raised animals) have higher amounts beneficial of omega 3 fatty acids and less saturated fats. It also has up to 60% less fat overall compared to normal commercially raised animals.
You are what you eat. If you eat fat animals that stand around eating all day you’ll get fat too.
The most important aspect of the caveman paleo diet is the avoidance of refined grains and sugars which are the leading cause of diabetes and a host of other modern diseases.

[…] Just recently I wrote about the Paleo ‘Caveman’ diet and why it shouldn’t be confused with The Warrior Diet… here’s the one simple reason why The Warrior Diet will fail for most people… The Warrior Diet requires far to much discipline for the average person. Essentially you eat nothing all day then pig out in the evening. […]
