Apart from being a tech geek Mark Cuban probably knows a thing or two about technology and communication trends since he sold a technology/communication company Broadcast.com for billions of dollars to Yahoo.com.

He started Broadcast.com with very little captial and a lot of sweat equity (even though he was already a millionaire from building and selling another company for millions)

In a recent article I included a quote from him on the value of content.

But what are his reasons for blogging?

I’m going to give you the words straight from the horses mouth in a sec because I don’t presume to know his reasons for blogging. But what I do know is this.

He’s not the richest billionaire going around.

There are plenty who are richer.

His public profile however is bigger than a lot of other billionaires (no doubt a lot of other billionaires are not interested in the public spot light since they could easily get it if they wanted it)

Owning an NBA franchise and doing your nut every game will gain you attention and publicity… but his blog also gets him publicity and positions him as an expert in the minds of others which resulted in bit of a debacle with the New York Times.

He has also started a Blog Search Engine called IceRocket.com. So he may have a vested interest in blogs succeeding. Then again he may also see a genuine trend emerging in Blogs that can be exploited. A lot is revealed in the Mark Cuban Quote in this article I wrote.

Whatever his reasons are what cannot be denied is the unprecedented levels of exposure one can gain through various blogging strategies. Like this random girl in Singapore who gets over 15,000 visitors to her blog everyday. Or this guy who started a blog in May 2002 and now gets over 20,000,000 visitors per month ( a smidgen less than major media player the NYtimes.com)
