Justin Gatlin just broke the world record for the 100 meters with 9.76 seconds at the IAAF Super Tour in Doha.
“I am the best of the best because I am the Olympic champion, the world champion and the world record holder now,” Gatlin told reporters.
It was a fast race with Nigeria’s Olusoji Fasuba cloaking 9.84 and fellow American
Shawn Crawford 10.08 coming in third.
In the semi’s he produced the previous fastest this year with 9.85 seconds, in the Doha semis.
Former 100 meter world record holderAsfata Powell, who also ran 9.95 in Kingston, Jamaica at the weekend and the pair will clash at the grand prix meeting in Gateshead, England on June 11.
“The timings could be further improved this year, probably in Europe,” said Gatlin, who dedicated his record to God and his parents.
