One of the time tested ways of becoming a recognized authority was to publish a book an sell a whole lot of copies. This often led to a never ending stream of prospects to the writers business because by publishing a book they had positioned themselves as an expert.
Here’s what else it does according to Matt Furey:
NOTE these are several points made by Matt Furey
- Allows you to get FREE publicity virtually anytime you want. As for myself, without any pushing or prodding, I have graced the covers of four magazines in three different countries. This would not have been possible if I wasn’t published.
- Puts you into an “elite” group of other professionals, all of whom are published to.
- Helps you get articles published by you and about you - and these articles lead to major amounts of money rolling to you as if it fell from the sky.
- Sets up live seminars and trainings where people come to learn the same thing you already taught them in your book, but at an even higher price point.
-
Puts you in place to approach others about joint ventures and cross promotions. If you don’t have a product - no one takes you seriously.
End of Matt Furey’s Quote
Now in the past you used to have to publish stuff in the form of books or cd’s - which can be a hassle. Now you can become a recognized authority by publishing a blog.
Here’s a quote from Darren Rowse about an interview he did about blogging on the radio:
“I’ve had emails and calls today from 5 Aussie company execs interested in blogging after this morning’s interview - looks like times could be changing here in Australia at last?”
Here’s whats interesting about this:
- First of all he got an interview about blogging.
- Second of all he got a bunch of calls from hot prospects.
- Thirdly even though he is an expert on blogging he has clearly positioned himself as one.
You see, there are other experts on blogging like the Manolo who also makes six figures out of blogging. Clearly The Manolo knows what it takes to make money blogging.
But does he get calls from Company Execs asking for advice on blogging?
Do you get my point?
