Prominent astrophysicist Dr Nir Shariv has done a lot of research which suggests global warming is caused more by Solar Activity than CO2 emmissions.

Lets face it.

The Sun is pretty powerful in the whole scheme of things.

But CO2 emmissions are currently one of the pet projects of UN bureaucrats and Al Gore gets to enjoy the intoxicating and all seducing limelight of public attention that he once enjoyed as the vice president.

Global temperatures have had a huge variance over history so to conclude that human beings are primarily responsible for temperature changes now is misguided… even if everyone else says it is.

I will later post a critical review of the report and the state of the science. But, for now let me note that Lorenz discovered chaos when he typed in a rounded off intitial condition into his computer program for simulating the weather. After he went for coffee he came back to find that the weather had evolved to a completely new phase, far different from his earlier simulation. He found that the slight rounding of his input to the initial conditions made a very large change in the weather pattern that was simulated, so large as to be “strange”. That was one of the initial phases in the discovery of chaos and strange attractors.

The computer models of the climate simulate the weather for centuries. How close do you think they come to the real thing? Not very close at all. It is not possible. Period. None of these models is to be trusted.

Man is puny as a source of climate change globally. The sun’s energy, vulcanism, natural variation (which is hugely under-rated in all this) and chaos dwarf anything we humans can do or are doing to affect the climate.

It’s hard to argue against these kinds of ideas if you’re any kind of scientist.

Of far greater concern are the air pollution that fossil fuels cause. This is undeniable and you only need to go to any industrial city in China to see the worst of these effects.

Nuclear power is not the solution but long term renewable energy sources are for air pollution.

As for global warming there’s little humans can do to effect long term change in global temperatures.
