From Stuff.co.nz:
The rapper, who has a nine-year-old son, defended violent video games as entertainment. “I think everyone knows that a game is a game. There’s the part where you actually press start on the controller – after that you are playing a game.”
The culture is rife with violence, in movies and in music, he said. “The person that’s influenced by a video game can be influenced by anything,” he said.
“If we have to take away video games, then we have to think about other things,” he said.
“And then we have no entertainment because we might influence somebody who’s crazy.”
There’s no doubt that 50 Cent is an intellegent guy otherwise he wouldn’t be where he is today. But he’s grasping at straws with this one.
Video games do effect kids. I had a mate who’s young 6 year old who one day started hitting everybody he came across. Slamming himself into people. His parents definitely weren’t violent so they wondered what was going on.
Then they figured out that it had all started when he began playing a wrestling game on Play Station 2. After that they stopped him from playing the game and the violence stopped.
50 Cent just wants to sell more units of his video game. His logic above is so lame.
