Patrick Gavin from Text Link Ad’s was interviewed and states his Text Link Ad’s are great as an alternative to banner ad’s. (Which are over priced in terms of direct results but are still popular)
According to Gavin, purchasing a number of text links over a variety of niche sites which relate to your own can bring more targeted traffic compared to a banner ad on a generic site.
